_DSC00444-H’ers from Grant and surrounding counties participated in the 4-H Fashion Revue event July 12, in the Grant County Courthouse Community Room. A public fashion show was staged at Lewis Family Drug.

Fashion Revue allows youth to use clothing, grooming, facial expressions, and body movement as a form of communication, according to Sara Koepke, Grant County 4-H Youth Advisor. “The goal is for youth to develop an understanding of personal presentation in public situations with regard to clothing, accessories, and grooming.”

Members chose from the categories of: sew and buy, selected outfit, constructed outfit, and challenge outfit, which this year is western wear. Kara Zaug served as the fashion revue judge. “Zaug critiqued the entrants on modeling and interview skills and she questioned each model about their outfit’s cost, fiber content, and care instructions,” Koepke explained.

The outfits will also be modeled during the Grant County Achievement Days Style Show, Tuesday, August 2, in the Livestock Building arena at 7:00 p.m.

Models 11 and older are eligible to participate in the State 4-H Fashion Revue at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron, SD on Sunday, September 4. There will be a public style show at 5:30 p.m. that evening in the DeSmet Farm Mutual Tent.
