Marjorie Olson 2Marjorie Olson, 79, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Ortonville, MN, died on July 26, 2016.

Memorial services in Sarasota will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on August 4, 2016, beginning at 11 a.m.

Services in Ortonville, MN will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at First English Lutheran Church, beginning at 2 p.m. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery.

Marjorie Adele Olson was born on March 3, 1937 at Milnor, ND to parents Julius and Olga (Ronningen) Odden. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on April 25, 1977 at Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, rural Battle Lake, MN and confirmed at the Sverdrup Lutheran Church in 1951 in Underwood, MN.
Marjorie attended school at Underwood, MN, graduating in 1956.

On March 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to David Olson of Dalton, MN at the Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Underwood. To this union two daughters were born, Paula and Stephanie. Marjorie was employed at the Lake Region Hospital, the S & L Department Store and the Regional Treatment Center during their years living in Fergus Falls.

The family moved from Fergus Falls to Ortonville, MN, where they owned and operated the Lakeview Boarding Care Home for the elderly from August 1, 1962 until April 30, 1976. Marjorie then served as the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce Executive Secretary for a period of two years, followed by twenty years with the Big Stone County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, retiring in 1999.

Marjorie was a member of First English Lutheran Church and Laurel Crown Chapter of O.E.S.

Marjorie is survived by Dave, her husband of 62 years of Sarasota, FL. Also surviving is her daughter Paula Reisdorph of Ortonville, MN and Paula’s children: Becca Reisdorph of Eden Prairie, MN, Kristen Reisdorph of Colorado Springs, CO and Kelsey Reisdorph of Minneapolis, MN, and daughter Stephanie Olson-Voth (husband Bryan Voth) of Hartford, SD and their children Corey Voth-Hogan (husband Robb) of Hartford, SD and Erin Elizabeth Avery (husband Jon) of Greenville, IL. She is also survived by Great Grandsons Bryson Hogan of Hartford, SD and Baby Avery of Greenville, IL. Also surviving is one sister Geraldine of Minnesota, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings: Judith, Orvin, Irene, Sanford, Maurice and Clifford and an infant brother.
