4-H youth from Grant County are ready to rock as the annual Achievement Days event gets underway Friday, July 29. The theme for 2016 is “Grant County 4-H Rocks.” All youth will receive a t-shirt with the theme as designed by Hope Karels.

All activities will take place at the Grant County 4-H Grounds located south of American Lutheran Church on Flynn Drive in Milbank.

Events will kick off Friday with the judging of all static exhibits in the static building from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Exhibits will remain on display for the public to view Monday through Wednesday, August 1-3.

Two new items have been added to the lineup this year and will take place Sunday, July 31. The day will begin with a sanctioned kids tractor pull from 2-3 p.m. The 4-H cat show will then take center stage in the exhibit building at 3 p.m.

All 4-H alumni and families, as well as current 4-H families, are invited to a potluck meal at 5 p.m. “We encourage all alumni and families to attend,” stated Sara Koepke, Grant County 4-H Youth Advisor. “We value the importance of our alumni and encourage them to remain involved in our programs. As a way to honor those who have gone through the 4-H program, we hope you will join us for a potluck and continue to be involved in the years to come.”
Sunday’s events will conclude with a rocket launch slated for 6 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the launch will be moved to Monday, August 1, at 4:30 p.m.
