Ethel E. (Erne) Mongold was born March 6, 1920, in Milbank, SD. She was the daughter of Anton and Emma (Kosse) Erne. Ethel was united in marriage with Martin Mongold on November 16, 1939, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Big Stone City, SD.

Ethel lived most of her life in the Big Stone City/Milbank area. She worked at several stores in Ortonville, MN. She and her husband moved to Flandreau, SD in 1982 to be with her family. Martin passed away January 21, 1996. Ethel moved into St. William’s Care Center in 2008.

Ethel was a faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, especially ice fishing. Ethel was a hard worker who loved caring for children. She had a firm side, but will be remembered for her gentle heart of gold. She liked to sing and loved music. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers and sisters.
