Edna Prisinger, age 84 of Milbank died July 30, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Milbank.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. Rev. Bill Cornelius will officiate and burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery. Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church Wednesday morning, one hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers will be: Darren Prisinger, Mike Locke, Dusty Prisinger, Brandon Prisinger, Kraig Prisinger, Mike Smith, and Thor Thonvold. Honorary bearers will be Jim and Deb Speidel; Jerry and Donna Zubke; and granddaughters: Amanda Prisinger, Karen Smith, Darcy Thonvold, Lauri Prisinger, Amy Locke, and Heather Prisinger.
The organist will be Kristy Tostenson.
Edna Rosella (Bohlen) Prisinger was born May 20, 1932, on the family farm in Roberts County, SD. She was the daughter of George and Dora (Harms) Bohlen. Edna grew up on the family farm and attended rural school in Roberts County. She was united in marriage with Leo Paul Prisinger on June 28, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona.
Edna and Leo farmed together in Roberts County for ten years. They owned and operated a livestock trucking company. It was a common sight to see Edna driving a livestock truck. Edna and Leo were blessed with three sons: Duane, Dar, and Dale. While raising her family, Edna was also involved with raising hogs and stock cows. She was a wonderful cook and her family will remember the delicious German meals. She always had a pot of coffee on! She enjoyed birds, gardening, and was a wonderful housekeeper. She and Leo enjoyed traveling and card playing. Edna adored her grandchildren (as well as all other children).
Edna was a faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milbank. She was baptized on July 7, 1932 and confirmed on May 4, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona.
Leo died on September 19, 2006. Edna has made her home at Golden Living Center in Milbank for the past few months.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law: Duane and Pam Prisinger of Milbank, SD; Dar and Barb Prisinger of Milbank, SD; Dale and Linda Prisinger of Big Stone City, SD; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elsie Hanson of Wilmot, SD; Luella DeGreef of Wilmot, SD; Evelyn Aden of Milbank, SD; sister-in-law, Annamae Gordon of Eugene, OR; one brother, Alvin (Marge) Bohlen of Brookings, SD.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Annette Wenck and Shirley Ladwig; two brothers: Ervin Bohlen and George Bohlen Jr.; two sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law and one great-grandson, Devon Smith.
