The Milbank School District is in need of lower level officials for football and volleyball for the upcoming athletic seasons, according to athletic director Boyd Sussex. “With more and more camps and competitions, the need for officials for ALL sports is increasing all year-round,” he explained. “There is an unprecedented need for officials in all sports.”

To start the school year, Milbank is in need of officials for middle school and junior varsity football games as well as middle school and C game volleyball officials and varsity line judges.

Scheduling meetings for lower level football and volleyball officials is slated for Thursday, September 8. The volleyball meeting will take place at 3:30 p.m. with the football meeting scheduled for 5:15 p.m.

A free officiating clinic is also scheduled for Tuesday, August 16, at 7 p.m. at the high school. Along with a wealth of information, details regarding equipment needs, scheduling games and various other details will also be addressed. “If you have ever had any interest in officiating but perhaps you didn’t know how to get started, this meeting is for you,” Sussex expressed. “This meeting will help you understand what it takes to get registered, start working games at the middle school level and eventually work into high school varsity and beyond.”
