Maurina Street Swimmer of the Meet at State

Milbank Area Lions Swim Team had nine swimmers compete at the South Dakota Long Course State A Championship Meet in Rapid City. MALST head coach Jodi Street said, “The State A’s is a tough meet – year-round competition, large swim teams, and long days. Milbank performed well despite storms on Friday and Saturday which pushed events into Sunday. MALST had the highest percentage placement of all the seasonal swim teams that attended. I was very happy with that.”

Three swimmers placed in the top 20 high point places. Carter Gloe placed 10th in the boys 8 & under division and Liam Street was 19th overall. Maurina Street finished sixth overall in the girls 9-10 age group.

Maurina was named the Swimmer of the Meet for the State A. She swam in all seven events and placed in the top nine of each event, helping her achieve her high point placement. She was also the top time-cutter of the meet.

The Sea Lions will wrap up their 2016 summer season with the South Dakota Long Course Seasonal State Championship meet in Huron Friday-Sunday, August 5-7. “It has been a great year,” noted Coach Jodi. “I am proud of all these kids and excited to see how we do in Huron.”
