The Milbank Firechiefs had a ball at the State Class B amateur baseball tournament last weekend in Mitchell, but suffered a loss to Kimball-White Lake in the opening round. Milbank got out to a solid start and led 3-0 after three innings. The opponent used a huge fourth inning to take the advantage at 7-3. The Chiefs were unable to heat up their bats, but Kimball-White Lake punched in three more runs in the seventh and five in the eighth to take the victory.

The Firechiefs tallied three runs on seven hits. Jeff Fish led the Milbank offense with two hits and one run. Ryan Conrad had one hit, scored one run, and was walked once. Lance Frogner, Matt Stephan, pickup player Austin Suther, and Ronnie Krause added one hit apiece. Frogner and Stephan had one RBI and Stephan hit a double.

Lance Frogner was on the mound for Milbank and credited with the loss. He struck out four batters, allowed six hits, five runs, and five walks. Dominic Boerger came in on relief and finished the final four innings. He sat down two batters, allowed seven hits, 10 runs and two walks.
