The Milbank Area boys golf team battled tough playing conditions resulting in higher scores during the Dell Rapids Rocky Run Invitational Monday, August 22.
Milbank Area finished in 14th position in the team standings with a total score of 403. “With the high winds, it was very tough to just keep the ball in play on some holes,” explained Bulldog head coach Mark Keeton. “As a team we are giving away too many strokes on and by the green. We really need to focus on our short game if we want to see lower scores.”
Adam Thomas finished in 15th place individually. He shot an 18-hole score of 85, which included a 40 on the front and a 45 on the back.
Noah Pillatzki finished the day with a 98 (49-49) while Gage Sayler and Logan Meyer both shot a 110. Connor VanVooren ended with a 114 (53-61), and Will Mischel shot a 117 (61-56).
Sioux Falls Christian won the event with a 343. Dakota Valley also scored a 343 with Aberdeen Roncalli in third with a 344. Sioux Valley took fourth place with a 346. Rounding out the team scores were Parkston, 350; Canton, 355; Madison, 355; Vermillion, 356; Elk Point-Jefferson, 359; Tea, 364; West Central, 370; Dell Rapids, 376; Beresford, 381; McCook Central-Montrose, 486. Tri-Valley did not field a complete team, therefore they do not have a team total.
Milbank Area will travel to Sisseton Thursday, August 25, for the Northeast Conference tournament. Players will tee off at 10 a.m.
