Lady Bulldogs See Net Gain at LQPV

The Lady Bulldogs tennis team split matches during the Triangular at Lac qui Parle Valley, MN, on August 26. Milbank secured a 5-2 victory over Marshall, MN, but was defeated by LQPV 5-2.

“We had a few tough losses – tie breaks and close sets with LQPV,” said Bulldog head coach Jim Dahl. “The girls played well. They kept the ball in play and had fewer unforced errors. We were very competitive with LQPV. Often just a point difference here or there and the tide would have swung our way.”

Seniors Jamie DeVaal and Sarah Jarman led the team as double winners and defeated opponents from both schools in singles play. Tatiana Stemsrud and Jodi DeVaal also earned a win over Marshall as did doubles players Rhianna Welberg and Jenna Johnson.

Milbank will travel to two matches this week before the Labor Day break. They go to Aberdeen Tuesday, August 30, to battle Aberdeen Central at 1 p.m. and Aberdeen Roncalli at 3:30 p.m. The team will also play a rescheduled match at Belgrade, MN, Thursday, September 1, at 4 p.m.
