Junior Adam Thomas was the lone Bulldog to place during the Madison Invitational boys golf meet at the Madison Country Club Tuesday, September 6.
Thomas tied for 11th in the individual standings with an 18-hole round of 88. He fired in a 42 on the front nine and a 46 on the back to secure the placing. “Adam had a good meet,” stated Bulldog head golf coach Mark Keeton. “The rest of the boys had a lot of good holes with a few bad ones that made all the difference. If we can stay away from those big numbers that hurt the card we will be fine.”
Will Mischel shot a 103 (50-53) on the day and finished in 52nd place. Noah Pillatzki (50-58) and Conner VanVooren (54-54) both shot a 108 while Isaac Nolz ended with a 114 (58-56). Chase Pinkert rounded out the team with a 138 (63-75).
Milbank landed in 12th place in the team standings with a 407. “I was hoping to get a team score under 400,” noted Keeton. “We did not reach that goal, but we did come close.”
Aberdeen Roncalli won the meet with a 329. Tea Area finished second with a 347 while Sioux Falls Christian took third at 355. Rounding out the field of 16 teams were Madison, 359; Sisseton, 361; Beresford, 363; Parkston, 371; Groton, 381; West Central, 386; Sioux Valley, 389; Dell Rapids, 398; Tri-Valley, 432; McCook Central, 445; Canton, 474, and Redfield-Doland, 507.
The Dawgs will travel to Groton Saturday, September 10, and to Redfield-Doland Tuesday, September 13.
