_dsc0025-2The Lady Bulldogs met their match -Aberdeen Central- on September 20, at Cantine Courts in Milbank. The locals fell by a score of 7-2.

“It was an improved match against Central from earlier this season,” said Bulldog head tennis coach Jim Dahl. “We had a couple of close third set tie break losses in a couple different matches.”

Paige Johnson, at number one singles, and Jamie DeVaal, at number four singles, each secured a win and avenged an earlier loss to their opponents. “Paige had a tough first set loss in a tie break, but did not let that affect her play. She won the second set and 10-point match break. A credit to her for coming back strongly. Jamie won her match convincingly. Kudos to her for changing it up.”

The number one pair of Johnson and Tatiana Stemsrud, and number six singles player, Halli Essington, played competitive matches, but could not secure a win. “All three of those girls really deserved a better fate,” Dahl said.”They lost by just a couple key points down the stretch.”

Milbank will be back in action Saturday, September 24, at a triangular in Brookings.
