Jimmie Berkner has been named the MHS Fine Arts Student of the Week. She is a senior and the daughter of Curt and Diane Berkner of Milbank.
Berkner sings soprano in the MHS chorus and was recently selected as a soprano representative for the South Dakota All-State Chorus in Sioux Falls. This is the second consecutive year she achieved this honor. She also serves as the 2016-2017 choir president for MHS.
“I’m excited to hear and see what Jimmie can bring to our choir,” stated MHS choir director Miriam Schwenn. “She has always been willing to perform, audition, and demonstrate as she has great singing confidence and a very strong voice. These skills are a great asset to our choir and I look for her to continue to help lead with her talents through on-time attendance and a commitment to our group. It will also be exciting to see what solos she chooses to prepare for future contests and concerts.”
In addition to Berkner’s leadership in chorus, she is a member of the band, co-captain of the color guard, and statistician for the boys basketball program. She is also actively involved in FFA, 4-H, and dance.
