Eric Matthew Torgerson, age 56, of Clinton, MN, who died on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the Ortonville Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton with Minister Bev McNeill officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the time of service at the church.
Casket bearers will be Tom McNally, Mark Abbott, Mark Gere, Benny Basta, Jason Gustafson, Jeremy Gustafson, and Jim Kallin.
Eric Matthew Torgerson was born on June 28, 1960, in Montevideo, MN, to David and Lois (Hanson) Torgerson. The family moved to Clinton in 1961, where Eric resided for the rest of his life. Eric attended Clinton Public School, graduating from high school with the class of 1978. While in high school he played football, basketball, and baseball. With his brothers Eric played town team baseball for Clinton. He and his brothers also played fast-pitch softball with their dad.
On May 9, 1981, Eric was united in marriage with Heidi (Stielow). This union was blessed with three children. Eric was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton where he also served as a youth group leader for several years. He belonged to the Moose Lodge #407 in Ortonville and was active with the Ortonville Men’s Golf League. Eric retired from the Clinton Fire Department, was a member of Sons of the American Legion Post #258, and was a CGB schoolboard member as well as a school bus driver. Eric was known for being half of the Crack and Mac show, the voice of the CGB Wolverines on KDIO. He was most recently employed to provide maintenance for the City of Clinton. When he was not working he could be found at the golf course with his buddies.
Most important to Eric was his family and he cherished time spent with his wife, children, and granddaughters. He was a friend to many and will be dearly missed.
Eric is survived by his wife, Heidi Torgerson of Clinton, MN; daughter, Samantha (Adam) Fischbach of Watertown, SD; sons, Matthew (Kelsey) Torgerson of Crookston, MN, and Maxwell Torgerson (Samantha Bridges) of Hill City, MN; grandchildren, Everlie and Ellesyn Fischbach and two more on the way; parents, David and Lois Torgerson of Clinton; siblings, Cindy (David) Stansfield, Denese (Todd) Gustafson, Mark (Cindy) Torgerson, Dale (Beth) Torgerson, and Janine (Jim) Teske; and many nieces and nephews.
