The Milbank High School chorus presented their fall concert on October 17, in the MHS theatre. Musicians from the community also performed.
“Because the MHS marching band is busy with their marching season every fall, the choir puts on its own concert,” explained MHS chorus director Miriam Schwenn. “During this concert and in the past few years, we have had the privilege of highlighting community members who share their musical talents.”
Amy Thue and Abbie Snaza, both MHS alumni and former students of Schwenn, sang a duet entitled I Dreamed A Dream. Four Milbank music and piano teachers twinkled the keys on two pianos during Jambalaya – A Portrait Of Old New Orleans. Entertaining the crowd were Susan Karels, Kristy Tostenson, Miriam Schwenn, and Deb Rausch.
Several MHS students also had solos or duets. Kaitlyn Rufer, Jimmie Berkner, Rhianna Welberg, and Alaina Rausch sang solo parts during Why We Sing and Madi Schulte and Emma VanVooren sang the descant.
Taylor Thue was the soloist during I Will Be The Light. Lindsey Geyer, Karlee Mertens, and Clare Van Dover were highlighted during Loch Lomond. In the final selection, God Bless The USA, Tanner Kettwig and Hailey Underwood were the featured soloists.
