It’s almost Halloween. Time for tricks and treats! The Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce and Milbank Fire Department know witch way to go for treats.

The Chamber will host its annual Treat Street from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Main Street in Milbank. “All businesses are welcome to participate, even if you are not located on Main Street,” stated Chamber Event Director Laura Kelly. “Main Street businesses may set up on the sidewalk in front of your location. If you are not located on Main Street, come join the fun and set up in the middle of the street.”

Main Street will be closed beginning at 4:30 p.m., but Kelly cautions trick-or-treaters to not arrive too early. The event does not begin until 5:30 p.m. and trick-or-treaters are asked to honor this starting time.

The Milbank Fire Department will also host its 24th Annual Halloween Safety Stop at the Fire Hall. Valley Queen Cheese and Ol’ Mill Meats join the department at this event which runs from 6 to 8 p.m. The costume contest takes place at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the cutest, scariest, and most original costumes. Age groups are 0-3, 4-8, and 9-12. Children are also invited to register for door prizes. The winning coloring contest posters will be on display at the firehouse and homemade snacks, meat and cheese, lemonade, hot chocolate, and ice water will be served.

For questions about these events, contact Kelly at the Chamber office or Fire Chief Kevin Schuelke.
