Applications Now Accepted For Holiday Food Boxes

The holidays are fast approaching and with that means the stress and planning of a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. Grant County Christian Service Council, Interlakes Community Action Partnership and the Grant County Food Pantry are now accepting applications for free holiday food boxes for families in need and unable to provide a meal otherwise.

“Families will receive a holiday food box for Thanksgiving or Christmas,” stated community service worker Heather Rise.

Forms must be completed through the ICAP office by Tuesday, November 1. The food boxes will be ready for pickup at the ICAP and Food Pantry office by Monday, November 14.

Each family will receive a voucher for a turkey or a ham to be used at either Hartman’s Family Foods or Berens Warehouse Groceries in Milbank. An additional voucher will be given to purchase fresh fruit, butter and eggs. Other items included in the food box may include stuffing, canned vegetables, canned sweet potatoes, cream of mushroom soup, cornbread, Jello, Rice Krispies, marshmallows and pumpkin mix. Each family will also receive recipes to assist in preparing different dishes to serve.
