img_9868The Milbank High School theater department presented its rendition of the 1936 Broadway production You Can’t Take It With You by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. The play ran from November 4 to November 5.

Grandpa Vanderhof and his wacky family, the Sycamores, were played by Shawn Stemsrud as Martin Vanderhof, Taylor Balling as Penelope, Landon Brown as Paul, Brooke Fraasch as Essie, Keaton Hagen as Ed, and Sarah Grabow as Alice. Other members of the household were Albert Pavlinac as Mr. DePinna, Amberly Warren as Rheba, and Ben Harstad as Donald.

Members of the Kirby family were Nathan Loutsch as Tony, Kaleb DeBoer as Mr. Kirby, and Korinne Roggenbuck as Mrs. Kirby. Friends of the family included Tanner Kettwig as Boris Kolenkhov, Allison Grear as Olga, and Devon Balling as Gay Wellington. Filling the roles of the Government were Andrew Falk as Henderson, Kassidy Wellnitz as J-Woman, Moritz Wortmann as J-Man, and David Ulloa as J-Man.

The 19-member cast was directed Holly Hilbrands. She was assisted by Sarah Jarman and Caitlin Kroemer. Aarron Schuelke served as special assistant. Adam Thomas was in charge of lighting and Alex Popowski ran the sound board. Running the special effects was Joe Harstad. The backstage crew included: Allison Pillatzki, Carolin Klettke, Sara Capp, Rhianna Welberg, and Tori Hooth.
