Gary Wayne “Jake” Eggert, age 51 of Cold Spring, MN died November 22, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilmot Lutheran Church. Rev. Sheila Pohl will officiate and burial will be in the Wilmot Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Wilmot Cemetery.
Jake was born at Bitburg Air Force Base, Rheinland-Pfalz Germany on September 26, 1965 to T/Sgt William Warren and Beverly Ann (VanderLinden) Eggert.
Jake attended school in Rapid City, SD. He travelled extensively before completing two years of Culinary School in Boston, MA.
He met Stacey Nielsen in the Black Hills while working at a resort together. They were married at Wilmot Lutheran Church, Wilmot, SD on October 29, 1994.
Jake enjoyed working at several notable restaurants in the Black Hills and Minneapolis, MN area. He and Stacey moved to Cold Spring, MN and began working for Golden Plump where he and Stacey settled down and were very happy.
Jake was a Green Bay Packer fanatic, a Cincinnati Reds fan and he loved to fish. He enjoyed searching for elk and other wildlife in Custer State Park. His life was enriched by his dog, Izzy and cat, Zoey.
Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents: William and Beverly; his brother, David and his sister-in-law, Tami Vollarth.
He is survived by his wife, Stacey of Cold Spring, MN; sister, Sandy (Bill) Glover of Deadwood, SD; two brothers: Loren (Mary) Eggert of Cold Spring, MN; Mike Eggert of Rapid City, SD; father –in-law and mother-in-law: Steve and Barb Nielsen of Wilmot, SD; nieces and nephews: Mike Glover, Amber Eggert, Adam Eggert, Jason (Amanda) Eggert; and great-nephew, Devon Eggert; as well as many cousins, other relatives and friends with a special place for Izzy and Zoey.
