Reuben Aden, age 94, of Milbank died November 23, 2016, at Milbank Area Hospital – Avera Health.
Reuben Dell Aden, oldest of eight children, was born on September 15, 1922, to Dell and Hilke (Tjaden) Aden at home, south and west of Twin Brooks, South Dakota. The family later moved to Grant Center Township where Reuben attended Grant County #6. He attended High School in Milbank and hired out to help his neighbors, Ralph Leddy and Harry Christians. In October of 1945, Reuben and Lorraine Dockter were married. Two children were born to them – Gloria and Keith.
Reuben was a lifelong farmer. Lorraine died in 1987. In 1991, Reuben married Evelyn Rollow of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. He resided there until her death in 2007. Reuben then moved to Nashville, Tennessee to live with Gloria. In 2009 they returned to Milbank and in 2013 he moved to Park Place, where he resided until his death.
Reuben is survived by his children: Gloria Aden Cooley of Milbank, SD, and Keith (Marlene) Aden of Salem, SD; grandchildren: Terry (Lisa) Steinmeyer of Minneapolis, MN; Joel Steinmeyer of Minneapolis, MN; Megan Hawkins of Nashville, TN; Kelly (Shannon) Sack of Sioux Falls, SD; and Rebecca (Eric) Vis of Luverne, MN;10 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; sister Loretta (Don) Meister of Burlington, WI; brother Darreld (Avis) Aden; sisters-in-law: Delores Aden of Sioux Falls, SD; Carol Aden and Evelyn Aden, both of Milbank, SD; and Eunice Aden of Stillman Valley, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Reuben was preceded in death by his parents; wives; brothers: Eldon, Glen, James, and Henry; sister Ruth Dockter; son-in-law Van Cooley; sister-in-law Norma Aden; nephew Wayne Aden; and nieces Chely Ann and Darla Mae Dockter.
