Stanley James Frogner was born on May 6, 1929, to Harold and Mae (Ahartz) Frogner in Adams Township, Grant County, South Dakota. Stan attended country school in rural Revillo and was in his freshman year of high school when his father died. He then left school to help run the family farm. On a blustery winter’s evening, March 31, 1951, Stan was united in marriage with Clarice Mae Frantz at Zoar Lutheran Church in Deuel County. For three years they made their first home west of Revillo. The next four years they lived in Alban Township and in 1957 they moved to Vernon Township, where they have since resided. Stan farmed until his retirement in his 70s, although even after that time he continued to help his son, Tom, and grandson, Lance, whenever he could.

Stan loved to travel. He and Clarice spent winters in Arizona since he was 60 years old. They enjoyed trips to all 50 of the United States and while on a trip to Norway they visited Frogner Park near Oslo. A sociable man, Stan liked sharing time with his coffee buddies. He always had candy, Werther’s Originals, in his pocket to share with his grandchildren. The joys of his life were his family – he adored time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, travelling with them, telling stories, playing cards, attending sporting events, and always boasting about them! Last winter, Stan and Clarice celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Left with his loving memory are his wife, Clarice, of Milbank, SD; son, Tom (Betty) Frogner of Milbank, SD; grandchildren: Trish (Jeremy ) Johnson of Tyndall, SD; Holly (Mike) Paulson of Watertown, SD; Lance (Alyssa) Frogner of Milbank, SD; and Mandy Frogner of Boca Raton, FL; great-grandchildren: Kendall, Kye, and Logan Paulson; and Kynslee, Grady, and Maddox Johnson; siblings: Donald Frogner of Estelline, SD; Dorothy (Wesley) Griffin of Watertown, SD; and Ken Drake of Watertown, SD.

Stan was preceded in death by his son, David, in 1968; his parents; infant brother; and his sister Margaret Lynde.
