The Milbank Middle School choirs and bands performed their Christmas concert before a capacity crowd December 6, in the MHS theatre. The choirs are directed by Miriam Schwenn and the bands by Susan Karels.
The sixth grade choir presented St. Nick At Night, Cold Snap, and Small Star. Brayden Christensen, Isaiah Korstjens, Chloe Lee, and Madilyn May sang the descant during Small Star.
The seventh grade choir sang Christmas in 90 Seconds, Follow the River, and Moonlight Sleigh Ride. The eighth grade choir presented Guadeamus (Let Us Rejoice), Build Me a World, and Night of Silence. The group’s second selection featured a descant by Emma DeBoer, Lindsey Mertens, and MacKenzie Michels.
The sixth grade band took the stage and performed Fanfare 2000, Christmas Lullaby, and Christmas March. The combined seventh and eighth grade band presented A Season’s Carol, A Christmas Prelude, The New World Symphony, and Christmas Classics.
Musicians of the Month for the middle school bands include: Addie Farrell, Isaac Sousa, and Amber Unzen (September); Max Lightfield, Karson Weber, and Jared Johnson (October); and Carter Phinney, Madison Mathews, and Aiden Boerger (November).
Honored as middle school choir Musicians of the Month are: Max Lightfield, Isaac Sousa, and Leah Mogard (September); Isaiah Korstjens, Mariah Madsen,and Erika Fonder (October); and Chloe Lee, Hattie Muellenbach,and Logan Meyer (November).
