Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Parkview United Methodist Church in Milbank. Pastor Melanie Reiners will officiate and burial with military honors will be in the Milbank Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue at the church on Friday, one hour prior to the service.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion, Birch-Miller Post #9; V.F.W. Grant County Post #3486; V.V.A. Northeast SD Chapter #1054; and D.A.V. Chapter #19.

Delmer John Laskowske was born August 30, 1936, in Ortonville, MN. He was the son of John and Josephine (Messler) Laskowske. Delmer was raised on a farm east of Milbank and was a lifelong Grant County resident. He served in the United States Army, enlisting on October 28, 1953. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on September 6, 1956.

Delmer returned to South Dakota and was united in marriage with Luella L. Whiting on February 15, 1957, in Milbank. Delmer worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime. He owned and operated a gas station. He worked for Grant County blading roads. He was a jackhammer operator for Cold Spring Granite Company and also Dakota Granite Company. He enjoyed carpentry worked and helped construct the Chalet Apartment building in Milbank. He was a janitor at Whetstone Valley Nursing Home for many years. He also had worked at Mill Works in Milbank cutting rough stock wood. He worked at Intercept with his son, Wayne. He also planted and maintained trees for the Soil Conservation Office.

Delmer was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Birch-Miller Post #9 and the V.F.W. Grant County Post #3486.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Luella of Milbank, SD; his children: Roxann (Randy) Nelson of Essexville, MI; Robert (Therese) Laskowske of Big Stone City, SD; and Kelly (Laurie) Laskowske of Grafton, ND; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings: Sister Savina Laskowske of Elverson, PA; Marlys Laskowske of Milbank, SD; and June Laskowske of Milbank, SD.

Delmer was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; son, Wayne on September 12, 2016; and brother, Marvin on November 19, 2016.
