_dsc0016-4The Milbank High School music department presented its annual Christmas concert December 11, in the high school theatre. The choir is directed by Miriam Schwenn and the band is conducted by Susan Karels.

The high school choir opened with With Gladness, Cheer and Song! featuring the All-State chorus members and Connor Lightfield and Adam Thomas on percussion. Following See Amid the Winter’s Snow, the group sang Riu, Riu, Chiu showcasing Adam Thomas, Isaiah Wollschlager, Tim Gabriel, Jordan Riley, Landon Brown and Chase Pinkert. During the popular Pentatonix selection White Winter Hymnal, Kimberlly Aburto, Jodi DeVaal, Christina Lusk, Mackayla Schuelke, Elisabeth Schwenn, Lily Trapp, Mallory Trapp, Amberly Warren, Abby Weber, and Mackenzie Weinkauf added body percussion pieces. Other selections by the choir included The First Breath of Winter, Requiem, and  Jingle Bells.

The high school band performed Christmas Africana featuring Jonny Ash with Agogo bells. They also played  A Christmas Suite, On A Catalonian Carol, Celtic Carol, and Feliz Navidad.

A trombone/euphonium ensemble of Allison Grear, Sophia Seffrood, Tracy Pillatzki, Ethan Bohn, Ben Harstad and Joe Harstad was incorporated into “On A Catalonian Carol”. A flute ensemble of Savannah Mork, Sarah Jarman, Elisabeth Schwenn, Mallory Trapp, Tatiana Stemsrud, and Rebecca Loehrer and Connor Lightfield on spoons were highlighted during “Celtic Carol.” Speakers for the band were:Taylor Balling, Jackson McFaden, Ashley Spors, Chase Pinkert and Allison Grear.
