Lady Bulldogs Dominate Sisseton

The Milbank Area Lady Bulldogs dominated Sisseton and came away with a 57-36 victory over Sisseton December 13, on the road. Milbank Area improved to 2-0 with the win.
“Our defense was really good,” stated Lady Bulldog head coach Brian Pauli. “We caused 32 turnovers. The girls are really trying to execute what we are practicing. We have some things to improve on offense, but overall I’m pleased.”
Milbank Area opened up the first quarter with a 14-7 advantage. The teams played fairly evenly in the second quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs took the lead 25-16 at the midway mark.
The Lady Dawgs were red hot in the third quarter and shut down the Redmen on both ends of the floor. Milbank Area poured in 17 points to take a commanding 42-24 lead heading in to the final stanza.
Caryssa Mielitz nearly hit a double-double with 20 points and 9 rebounds. She also added 2 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Molly Rick followed with 14 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist and 2 steals.
Mackayla Schuelke tallied 7 points, 1 board and 6 steals and Mikaela Hoeke added 6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal for the Lady Bulldogs.
Also adding to the totals for Milbank Area were Jaecy Engebretson, 3 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal; LaChasity Finley, 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal; Taylor Thue, 2 points and 2 assists; Shea Hooth, 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal; Gabbi Cummins, 1 point, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot; Sophia Seffrood, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot, and Karlee Mertens, 1 steal.
The Lady Bulldogs hit 19 of 45 from the field for 42 percent shooting. They were 2-of-10 from three point land and 17-25 from the charity stripe for 68%. Milbank Area wrapped up the victory with 30 rebounds, 30 steals, 6 assists, 4 blocked shots and 20 turnovers.
Sisseton made 24% of its shots from the field – just 8-of-33. The Redmen finished the game with 31 rebounds, 18 steals, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot, and 32 turnovers.
Milbank Area was scheduled to travel to Aberdeen tonight, December 16, but the game was rescheduled for January 12 due to the weather. The Lady Bulldogs will be back in action Tuesday, December 20, when they host Warner at the Milbank Armory.
