MMS Students Give for the Holidays
Milbank Middle School students are giving back this holiday season with two service projects. The student council led a penny war to raise money to buy presents for kids in conjunction with the Angel Tree. “They set a goal to raise $1,200 and raised over $1,300,” stated student council advisor Heidi Wellnitz. Mr. Eric Townsend’s sixth grade homeroom class was the winner. “But it was hard work by the entire middle school that made this goal possible,” Wellnitz said.
They also decorated over 450 cookies to deliver to more than 70 local businesses. All middle school students decorated the cookies and the student council delivered them. “This was our way (the middle school) of saying thank you to the community for all they do for the schools.” Wellnitz said.
