Marland Schultz

Marland Schultz, age 87, resident of Wilmot, died on December 26, 2016 at the Milbank Area Hospital-Avera.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016, at Central United Methodist Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. DeVern Schwenn officiating.

Visitation will be held at Mundwiler Funeral Home Thursday, December 29, from 5 – 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren: Amy Davis, Christena Kraft, Eric Schultz, Angela Grong, Amanda Thronson, Kelsie Pehl, Emily VanLith, Abby Rogers, and Ashley Christenson. Burial will be in the Milbank Cemetery.

Marland Arthur Schultz was born to Arthur and Erma (Krueger) Schultz on May 21, 1929, in Roberts County, SD, on the Schultz family farm. He graduated from Corona High School. On August 8, 1948, Marland was united in marriage with Beverly Ammann in Ortonville, MN. He was a lifelong farmer. From 1948 to 1984, Marland farmed west of Corona. In 1984 he and Beverly moved back to the Schultz homestead, a five generation old farm that has been in the Schultz family for 126 years. He farmed there until 2013 when he moved to Wilmot.

Marland was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was also active in the SD Hereford Association, served as a Garfield Township Supervisor, and was on the Board of Directors for the Milbank Community Oil Company.

In his spare time, Marland enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very proud of his garden. An avid school supporter, he attended every sports event held at the Corona schools. Most important to Marland was his family and the time he spent with them. His grandchildren were his delight and he will be dearly missed.

Left with his loving memory is his wife, Beverly Schultz, of Wilmot; daughter, Ruth Ann (Jerry) Settje of Corona, SD; son, Dale (Barbara) Schultz of Corona, SD; son-in-law, Lynn Eberhart of Britton, SD; grandchildren: Amy (Cory) Davis, Christena (Luke) Kraft, Eric Schultz, Angela (Evan) Grong, Amanda (Michael) Thronson, Kelsie (Dwight) Pehl, Emily (Mike) VanLith, Abby (Andrew) Rogers, and Ashley (Brad) Christenson; great-grandchildren: Ashlynn and Taryn Kraft; Kennady and Riley VanLith; Kalli and Kendra Grong; Isaac Rogers, Mara and Kaylie Schultz; Chase and Allie Pehl; and Nora Christenson; and sister-in-law Betty Schultz of Corona, SD.

Marland was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Diane, in 2010; and his brother, Donald.
