Genevieve Holme, resident of Ortonville, age 101, who died on December 27, 2016 at Northridge Residence.

Genevieve Rosabelle Holme was born September 19, 1915, at a farm home in Green Meadow Township, Norman County, Minnesota. She was the third of eight children born to Harry LeRoy and Rosalie Anna (Pinske) Gill.

Genevieve attended rural school during childhood and graduated from Ada High School in 1932. She graduated from a two year course at Moorhead State Teacher’s College and taught in rural schools for nine years.

On September 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Hans Holme of Ortonville and lived most of her life on their farm in Big Stone County. They moved to a home in Ortonville in 1998 where they lived there until Hans’s death in 2005. She has resided at Northridge Residence since then.

Genevieve enjoyed gardening, playing whist, writing poetry, following the news and many different kinds of puzzles. She was active in the Home Extension Club and political activities. She enjoyed using her nickname “Gebbs”.

Genevieve is survived by her sister, Palmetta Gill Schonborg of Redondo Beach, CA; nephews: Peter Holme (Ann) of Ortonville, MN; Todd Holme of Lake Hughes, CA; John Kindseth (Shirley) of Lodi, CA; Wesley Herberg of Clinton, MN; Richard Gill of Ada, MN; nieces: Rose Edwards (Simon) of Olympia, WA; Eunice Perry (Arnie) of Coral Gables, FL; Anita Enander (Mike) of Los Altos, CA; Laura Enander Harris (Tim) of Saratoga, CA; Lyn Holme Logelin (Chris) of Pittsburgh, PA; Paulette Holme Medin (Paul) of Vadnais Heights, MN; Tamra Holme Maughan (Stan) of Edina, MN; Carol Hannah (Glen) of Renville, MN; Linda Chisman of Wanchese, NC; and other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hans; brothers: Halley and Donald Gill; sisters: Corrial Herberg, DeVoil Kindseth, Elsie Brink, and Violet Enander.

Gebbs requested that memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
