Bien and Folk Take Down First Place

MHS wrestlers Alec Bien and Riley Folk brought home first place wins from the River City Rumble tournament in Chamberlain Saturday, January 21. Bien was the top grappler in the 145-pound weight class. Folk won in the 195-pound class. Eli Fischer landed in second place at 106, and Cole Dockter took third at 160.

“All the guys competed hard,” stated Bulldog Head Coach Jeremy Tostenson. “We had lots of guys just one match away from placing.”
Milbank finished in fourth place overall with 110.5 points. Huron won the event with 195 points. Mitchell was second with 145 and Douglas took third at 136.5.

The Dawgs also came home with three dual victories from Friday’s Quadrangular in Chamberlain. Milbank downed Chamberlain 46-33, Belle Fourche 66-18, and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte-Dupree 77-4. They improved their dual record 11-7.

Leading the Bulldogs were E. Fischer, Jose Chen, Bien, Isaac Fischer, and Dockter with 3-0 records. Tyler Krause, Jordan Lindberg, JD Lusk, Breyden Miller, Brodie Holtquist, Folk, Ben Nelson, and Angel Chen each posted a 2-1 record and Taran Mogard went 1-2.

The junior varsity team will be in action Tuesday, January 24, at the Milbank Armory. Varsity travels to the Northeast Conference tournament in Groton on Thursday, January 26.
