Emma L. Folkens, age 106, of Graceville, formerly of Clinton, who died peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 30, 2017, at Holy Trinity Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clinton, Minnesota. Visitation will start at 12:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in the Clinton City Cemetery following the funeral service.

Emma was born September 10, 1910, in Malta Township, Big Stone County, Minnesota. She was the sixth child of Fred and Henrietta (Meyers) Weinman. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church and attended country school at District 10. On May 14, 1939, she was united in marriage to John Folkens and they were blessed with 74 years of marriage. To this union, five children were born: Sandra, Ronald, Carol, Cheryl, and Kathleen.

John and Emma enjoyed 56 years of farming east of Clinton. In 1995, they moved to Clinton, and John passed away in August of 2013. On December 20, 2014, Emma entered Grace Home and lived there until the time of her death.

Emma loved the outdoors and was always busy. She had a large garden, loved to mow, and kept the buildings painted on the farm. They raised chickens and peacocks, among many other animals and sold lots of eggs over the years. She always enjoyed having people over for visits, had coffee when they came for eggs, and it was a bonus when they brought their kids along!

Emma loved and cherished her family and looked forward to seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Emma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the September Birthday Club. She always helped wherever she was needed.

Cherishing her memory are her children: Sandra (Dennis) Toner of Sioux Falls, SD; Carol (Charles) Lewis of Clinton, MN; Cheryl Bachmeier of Naples, FL; Kathleen Gillespie of Clinton; grandchildren: Rhonda (Neal) Kroetch, Charles (Kerry) Lewis, Mona (Jamie) Skidmore, Kyle (Ronda) Gillespie, Gina Lewis, and Laura (Joe) Buchanan; great grandchildren: Jacob Gillespie, Justin Gillespie, Carter Lewis, Jenna Lewis, Haley Gillespie, Eric Buchanan, and Makena Buchanan.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Henrietta Weinman; husband, John Folkens; son, Ronald Folkens; brothers, Henry, Carl, Gus, and George Weinman; sisters, Minnie Connelly, Laura Huselid, and Frieda Spaulding; nieces, Juanita Moberg and Elaine Cuff; nephews, Gerald Weinman and Gary Spaulding.
