Laurel Addell (Keeney) Benting passed away suddenly in the early morning of Sunday January 29, 2017. Laurel was born December 31, 1948, in Milbank, South Dakota to Clayton & Dalles (Schwandt) Keeney.

She enjoyed her time in Illinois, Minnesota and Texas and maintained a special connection to South Dakota throughout her life.

Laurel was a life partner married for 46 years and a mother particularly passionate for providing opportunities for her family & others while heavily involved in Scouting and finding an intrinsic joy in managing a home for adults with special needs. She had an eye for art and artistic endeavors that eventually led to a framing business. For the past 9 years she enjoyed the opportunity to split time with great people in Texas in the winter and South Dakota in the summer.

Laurel’s immediate family includes her husband Gary, her mother-in-law Ruby, her two sons: Douglas & Bryan … Douglas & his fiancée Gwen & daughter Isabella of Tempe, AZ; and Bryan & his wife Seana & daughter Aurora of St. Paul, MN; her sister, Judy & her husband, Larry Rudebusch of Corona, SD; her sisters-in-law: Gayle & her husband, Larry Wanous of Sisseton, SD and Susan Pew of Sioux Falls, SD, her three nieces: Jennifer, Julie & Kristy, and three nephews: Robbie, Chad & Aaron; as well as her uncle, Leland & aunt Dorothy Schwandt; and many members of her extended family and network of friends.

We will always carry her memory in our hearts.
