Larry Arnold Hunt, age 60, resident of Dawson, MN, died February 2, 2017, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 1:30 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Rev. Eric Spickelmier will officiate the funeral with military honors and burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Military honors will be provided American Legion, Birch MillerPost #9, V.F.W. Grant County Post #3486, V.V.A. Northeast SD Chapter #1054 and D.A.V. Chapter #19.

Larry Arnold Hunt was born February 6, 1956 in Clear Lake, SD. He was the son of William and Ursula (Even) Hunt. Larry was raised on a farm near Revillo. He graduated from the Grant Deuel High School in 1974. He continued to work on the farm with his father until he entered trade school to become a carpenter. He married Cindy Westermeyer in 1977 and to this union two children were born: Nicole and Kelly. They enjoyed their life together for many years until Cindy’s death in 2004. He met and later married Jeanette “Snookie” Tracy on June 27, 2015 at the Veteran’s Park in Dawson, MN.

He worked as a carpenter for some time, eventually building his own home in Gillette, WY. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for eight years and was discharged due to a medical condition. Larry and Cindy lived and raised their children on their hobby farm in Odessa, MN, and enjoyed every minute of it!

Larry enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings, coaching little league baseball, fishing, deer hunting, coyote hunting, playing poker and traveling; living in seven states and two countries! In his retirement, he enjoyed working on their hobby farm, tending to a large garden and a variety of animals. Larry adored his entire family, especially his grandchildren and step grandchildren. He also had a special place in his heart for his cats: Chester and Rooster; and his dog, Kemo.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jeanette “Snookie” Hunt of Dawson, MN; children: Nicole (Jesse) Holtquist of Odessa, MN; Kelly Hunt of Odessa, MN; grandchildren; Matthew and Alex; step son; Carl (Theresa) Burns; step grandchildren; Cody, Jeremiah and Zari Burns; siblings; Darlene (Tom) Kaffer of Humboldt, SD; Janice (Mike) Williams of Wala Wala, WA, Rita Crabb of Tucson, AZ and Mona (Mike) Brucher of Anchorage, AL.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ursula Hunt; wife, Cindy; siblings: David, Karen and Marlys.
