Genevieve H. Strube, age 95, resident of Ortonville, died on February 14, 2017, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ortonville, MN. Rev. Dennis O’Neill will officiate and burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery (Pinkert Cemetery), Alban Township, Grant County, SD.

Visitation will be Friday, February 17, at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue Saturday afternoon, one hour prior to the service, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Casket bearers will be: Douglas Thomas, Tytus Strube, Mathew Scott, Mark Linquist, Harlan Strube, and Kenny Marketon. Honorary bearers will be the caregivers from Northridge Residence, and all her friends and family.

Genevieve Hulda Strube was born February 9, 1922, in Odessa, MN. She was the daughter of Gunnar (Pete) and Anna (Melcher) Linquist. She was baptized July 26, 1931, and confirmed May 27, 1934, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN. Genevieve was very committed to her religious beliefs and showed this by being a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Bible School Teacher, served in all offices for Women of Trinity, and was active in Circle.

Genevieve was also active in the Extension Club and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a 4-H Leader, on the elections board, and assigned as treasurer of the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Association.

After graduating from Ortonville High School in 1939, Genevieve resided in Milwaukee WI, and Minneapolis, MN. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards with family and friends, and reading a good book.

Genevieve was united in marriage with Wenhard (W.E.) Strube on May 4, 1947, in Buffalo, MN. They spent the majority of their lives living in Big Stone City, SD. She was a homemaker who adored her children and being involved in their activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Rodney Strube of Rapid City, SD; Candyce (Alfred) Thomas of Dell Rapids, SD; Shirley (Kenny) Wiese of Twin Brooks, SD; Mary Strube of Burnsville, MN; and Gerald (Bonnie) Strube of Milbank, SD; sister, Myrtle (Harlan) Nelson of Hutchinson, MN; two sisters-in law: Selma Felton of Ortonville, MN and Joyce Strube of Milbank, SD; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, Gunnar and Anna Linquist; husband, Wenhard; grandson, Quentin; two sisters: Jean (George) Marketon and Helen Balgaard; and six brothers: Donald, Irvin, Francis, Alvin, Clifford, and Ralph.
