Caryssa Mielitz Scores 1,000 Points

MHS senior Caryssa Mielitz scored the 1,000th point in her high school basketball career as a Lady Bulldog. She hit the 1000-point milestone during the opening round game of the Region 1A girls basketball tournament in Sisseton tonight, Tuesday, February 21. Caryssa is the daughter of Jay and Myra Mielitz.

In the game, Milbank Area went on a run midway through the first quarter and Mielitz scored her first field goal of the night. With just over two minutes remaining in the first half, she hit her second field goal and was fouled, sending her to the free throw line. She dropped in her 1,000th point!

Mielitz tallied seven points in the game, giving her 1,002 points in her career. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Braves 54-24 and advance to the second round of the tournament on Thursday, February 23. They play the winner of Aberdeen Roncalli/Tiospa Zina at 7:30 p.m.
