Unity Square in Milbank has been updating the steps for the swimming pool water slide. The pool was set to reopen Monday, February 20, but was delayed. “When putting the new steps in, unforeseen issues arose as is the case with many projects of this magnitude,” said facility director Jerry Jungers. “The crew took their time for safety reasons.” The pool will reopen tomorrow, Wednesday, February 22.
Milbank House Movers assisted with the demolition of the old stairs. The remainder of the work was done by Apex Ironworks of Milbank.
The water slide stairs are original to the facility which was built 22 years ago. “We have only done regular maintenance on the water slide since that time, so it will be nice to get the stairs updated,” Jungers said. He also stated that several other updates are on the horizon as the budget allows. “In the future, our top three projects include roof repairs, sandblasting and repainting the pool and pool area, and updating the carpet.”
