The 2017 District 7 youth wrestling tournament takes place Saturday, March 4, at the Milbank High School Armory. District 7 includes Britton, Clark, Clear Lake, Groton, Milbank, Sisseton, Watertown, Webster, and Enemy Swim Day School. The top eight places in each weight class advance to the Region 4 tournament in Britton Saturday, March 11.

Weigh-ins run from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and wrestling begins at 11 a.m. Pre-registration is encouraged and needs to be completed by Friday, March 3, at 8:30 a.m. To pre-register, search for the tournament at www.trackwrestling.com.

AAU cards are required at check-in and must be pre-ordered online at www.aausports.org. AAU cards will not be sold the day of the tournament. It is highly recommended that all people have a copy of the athlete’s birth certificate with them in the event of any challenges. Age challenges must be made before the start of the tournament. Any challenges must be directed to the tournament director. All wrestlers must attend school in South Dakota.

Five age groups along with their corresponding weight classes will be used. The age groups and weight classes include:
Tots (born in 2011 and after) – 37-40-43-36-49-53-57-HWT
Bantam (born in 2010 and 2009) – 40-44-47-50-53-57-61-65-70-76-83-92-HWT
Midgets (born in 2008 and 2007) – 50-53-56-59-63-67-72-77-82-89-96-104-113-123-134-HWT
Novice (born in 2006 and 2005) – 60-64-68-72-77-82-87-93-100-108-117-127-138-150-HWT
Schoolboy (born in 2004 and 2003) – 70-75-80-85-90-95-100-105-110-115-120-125-130-140-150-160-180-HWT

There will also be a girls division. Girls will be entered in their respective age group and weight class. Girls will not be wrestling boys.

Coaching is allowed, but all coaches must have their AAU coach’s card purchased prior to the tournament. Cards will be stamped by South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association (SDWCA). Only individuals with coaching passes will be allowed mat-side. There will be a coaches/wrestling club meeting at 10:30 a.m. in the wrestling room located in the southwest corner of the Armory.

Admission fees are $5 for adults and $3 for students. The cost per wrestler is $10, and the coaches fee is $25. Concessions will be available throughout the event. No coolers will be allowed.
