Bierschbach Dental conducted a bone marrow registry drive Friday, March 3, and helped over 150 people register,” says event coordinator Kathleen Holscher.
The bone marrow registry drive was held to find a match for Kristin VanLaecken, mother of five and wife of Dr. Rob VanLaecken. Dr. VanLaecken is an orthodontist with offices in Milbank, Watertown, Aberdeen, and Brookings. Kristin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and needs a stem cell transplant.
Donors between the ages of 18 and 44 who were unable to attend the drive Friday, are encouraged to join the effort by ordering a kit online. “There is no charge for the kit if you are between the ages of 18 and 44,” Holscher says.
