Mary Ann Brown

Mary Ann Brown, age 87, of Milbank died March 14, 2017, at the Milbank Care & Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Living Word Church in Milbank. Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank, Sunday, March 19 from 5 – 7 p.m. and continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. Dr. Rev. Devern Schwenn will officiate.

Casket bearers will be: Tim Brown, Jeff Hanson, Mike Hanson, Greg Hanson, Andy Hardies, and Rollie Hardies. Honorary bearers are all her grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery.
Mary Ann Brown was born on April 6, 1929, in Grant County, SD. She was the daughter of Norvel and Leona (Raebel) Skaarer. She was a lifelong resident of Grant County and graduated in the class of 1947 at Milbank High School.

She was united in marriage with Frank Brown on September 10, 1947, in Milbank SD. They were blessed with three children: Gerald, Nancy, and Loretta.

Mary was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church. She was a former member of Jolly Madison Extension Club and a former 4-H Leader. She loved to crochet and made afghans for her grandchildren.
Mary enjoyed working for Coast to Coast for 14 years and Dan’s Pharmacy for 10 years. She spoke fondly of her days working at both companies.
Mary enjoyed her flower gardens. Mary’s family was very important to her and spending time with them was cherished.

Left to cherish Mary’s memory is her husband, Frank Brown of Milbank, SD; her children: Gerald (Sharon) Brown of Milbank, SD; Nancy (Delvin) Hanson of Wilmot, SD; and Loretta (Dave) Hardies of Gretna, NE; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Gladys (Marlo) Busk.
