Corona held its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 17. There were 44 float entries in four categories.
Winning the Most Irish prize was the Corona Community Club float. Dakota Machine Works received the Most Unique float trophy. The Best Children’s float award went to Todd Sprung of REA Hybrids. John McAllister and his 1941 Allis Chalmers Model B tractor won the Long Distance entry prize. They came from Franklin, South Dakota.
Four winners were drawn for the Little Lad and Lassie contest. Winners in the 1-7 year old category were Addison Schwagel and Liam Pernitsky. Winners in the 8-14 years old category were Grace Henderson and Keegan Carlin. Winners ride on a float in next year’s parade. They also receive a trophy and shamrock necklace.
Teresa Briggs was the Grand Marshal of the parade. The Highlanders of the North provided entertainment. The day also included inflatables for kids, raffle and prize drawings, and a lunch at the Senior Citizen Center.
