Violet (Vi) Wohlleber, age 86, of rural Summit/South Shore died Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was the widow of Ervin O. Wohlleber.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mazeppa Township. Pastor Nathan Zastrow will be officiating. The organist will be Darlis Heuer.
Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank on Thursday, April 20, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday one hour prior to the service.
Violet Dorothy Graff was born on June 27, 1930, in McPherson County. She was the daughter of Jacob and Katherine (Jenner) Graff. She attended Hillsview Rural School through the eighth grade, then attended and graduated from Hosmer High School in May of 1948. In May 1950, she was enrolled in Watertown Beauty Academy in Watertown, SD and graduated in September of 1950.
Violet was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the ladies’ aid.
Violet was united in marriage to Ervin O. Wohlleber on June 30, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mazeppa Township. To this union, six children were born.
Violet was an outstanding gardener to which she devoted nearly 60 years. Frequently, she canned a portion of her harvest and would gladly share with friends. She also loved raising many varieties of flowers. In the winter, she enjoyed playing cards, reading, and visiting with friends.
Violet sold Tiera and Avon for many years. She took pride working for 50 years on the Mezeppa Township Election Board. Violet loved being around others and attending area events involving her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren when able.
Survivors include her children: Dean (Jamie) Wohlleber, of Chattanooga, TN; Daryle (Julia) Wohlleber of Tampa, FL; DuWayne (Beth) Wohlleber of Sioux Falls, SD; Arlyn Wohlleber of South Shore, SD; Julie (Mike) Healy of Klamath Falls, OR; and Kevin (Laurie) Wohlleber of Sioux Falls, SD; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in November of 2000; grandson, Chad Wohlleber, and two brothers.
