Arlo Levison of the Grant County Historical Society will highlight Grant County Historical Buildings on Tuesday, April 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Grant County Public Library. His talk complements the South Dakota Properties of History display currently set up at the library. The display remains on view through May 13.
The 15 full-color panels explore South Dakota’s historic places and are a traveling exhibit from the South Dakota State Historical Society. “Learn about the beautiful Italianate architecture of the Mellette House in Watertown, the enormous prehistoric beasts rising above the skyline in Rapid City’s Dinosaur Park, and the awe-inspiring Gothic towers of the Cathedral of the Prairie in Hoven,” says Library Director Jody Carlson. “Also featured is the quiet power of Bear Butte, the bustle of the restored military fort at Fort Sisseton, and the simple beauty of poet Badger Clark’s handbuilt cabin.” The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Grant County Library.
