The Lady Bulldogs golf team battled tough weather conditions at the Redfield-Doland Pheasant Invitational on April 27. According to Bulldog Head Coach Mark Keeton, each golfer played 10 holes instead of the normal 18. “When we arrived there was still ice on the greens, and we had to wait for that to melt off,” he explained.
Alaina Rausch led the locals with a third place finish with a 54. Mikaela Hoeke followed with a 62, and Tori Quade a 63. Clare Van Dover carded a 65. Claire Mischel tallied 81, and Korinne Roggenbuck, 87.
“I thought the girls hung in very well with the cold conditions,” stated Keeton. “It is very tough for a golfer to keep their hands warm in those conditions.”
Milbank finished fourth in the team standings with a 244. Sisseton won the meet with the low score of 213. Aberdeen Roncalli took second with 230, and Mobridge-Pollock was third with a 236. Rounding out the team scores were Aberdeen Central junior varsity, fifth, 256; CEB , sixth, , 276; and Groton Area, seventh, 278.
Milbank travels to Ortonville on Wednesday, May 3.
