St. Lawrence School first grader Andrew Karels, son of Josh and Karissa Karels of Milbank, was presented with a Citizenship Award from Milbank Police Chief Boyd VanVooren Friday, May 5.
“Andrew and his grandmother were the first people to come into my office and report the vandalism that was done on the railroad property in March,” stated VanVooren. “Andrew was very concerned about the graffiti and wanted to make sure it was reported to the police.”
Andrew has also volunteered to be involved with the clean up and repainting of the cement to cover the graffiti. “Andrew is a great example of a great citizen,” VanVooren shared. “I am very proud of him.”
