Darlene G. Grossman, 89, of Ortonville, died on May 9, 2017, at the Ortonville Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 13, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville, beginning at 11 a.m. Fr. Brian Oestreich will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, from 5-7 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:15 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery.

Darlene Grace Dwyer was born on September 18, 1927, in Graceville, Minnesota to William and Minnie (Andrews) Dwyer. She grew up in the Graceville area and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy with the class of 1945. She married Lewis Grossman on September 25, 1946, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville. Their union was blessed with two children.

Darlene worked in the Ortonville area all her life. She worked at the Big Stone Canning factory for two years before she started a new job at the Red Owl Grocery Store in Ortonville, where she worked for many years.

Darlene was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church for over 60 years, having been involved with numerous women’s circles and the Bowl of Love program. Darlene was a talented cook and could make a meal out of anything! She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends, especially playing Hand and Foot. Darlene’s true passion was people, cherishing visits from family members and friends. She was always ready for a quick visit and always making new friends.

Left with her loving memory are her children: Ron (Pat) Grossman of Creal Springs, IL; and Rod (Char) Grossman of Ortonville, MN; four grand-children; six great-grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven siblings; as well as other relatives.
