Four MHS golfers placed in the top fifteen during the Northeast Conference girls’ golf meet in Sisseton on May 15. Kylie Kasuske led the team with a third place finish and a score of 97. Clare Van Dover carded her personal best score of 102 and secured fifth place. Mikaela Hoeke shot a 117 and placed eleventh. Alaina Rausch was close behind in twelfth place with a 120.
“The key to Sisseton is figuring out the greens, and as a team, we found out just how tough the greens can be,” stated Bulldog Head Coach Mark Keeton. “If we want to continue to lower scores as a team, we need to sharpen our short game 50 yards and in.”
Milbank placed second as a team with a 436. Sisseton captured the NEC championship title with a 401. Redfield-Doland took third with a 444. Aberdeen Roncalli was fourth with a 445, and Groton came in fifth with a 518.
Milbank also traveled to Madison on May 11. They finished the day with a 427 and eighth place. “Madison is a tough course, and we talked beforehand how scores would be a little higher,” noted Keeton. “I was happy with our team score. It was helped by two excellent sub-100 rounds by Kylie and Alaina.”
Kasuske led the Lady Bulldogs with a seventh place score of 93. Rausch fired in a personal best 18-hole round of 95 and tied for ninth overall. Other scores for Milbank were: Hoeke, 119; Van Dover, 120; Tori Quade, 131; and Korinne Roggenbuck, 134.
