The Milbank Firechiefs amateur baseball team captured their first win of the season with a 4-0 win shutout win over Sisseton May 31. The locals improved to 1-2.
Milbank plated one run in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead. The Chiefs scored two runs in the fifth inning to secure the victory over Sisseton.
Jesse Krause led Milbank with two hits and one run. Ryan Conrad followed with one hit and one run while Brock Gomer added one hit and two RBIs on the night. Tristan Hall had one hit and one RBI, and Taylor Boerger belted out one run for the Firechiefs.
Brady Krause started on the mound for Milbank and went the distance. He sat down 18 batters and gave up just two hits and one walk.
Milbank suffered a 5-0 loss to Clark in a road game on May 28. Clark plated three runs in the second inning to take the early lead. The opponent added two more runs in the fourth to capture the victory.
The Firechiefs finished the game with just two hits on the night. J. Krause and Hall were the lone players to belt out one hit apiece.
Lance Frogner started on the mound for Milbank and suffered the loss. He struck out four batters and gave up seven hits, two walks and five runs.
