The Milbank Legion Post 9 baseball team started its season with a 4-1 record and earned a second place finish at its own Arnold Larsen tournament this past weekend.

The locals opened up the season with two wins over Webster in doubleheader action May 30. Milbank breezed by Webster 15-1 in the opening game and edged out the opponent 6-5 in the nightcap.

In the first game, Dylan Johnson and Dom Boerger scored three runs each. Jonny Ash, Tanner Bock and Mitch Quade plated two runs each while Jake Fox, Gage Sayler and Tate Stricherz had one run apiece.

Johnson secured the win on the mound for Post 9.

In the second game, Johnson led the team with two hits and two runs. Ash, Boerger and Quade added two hits and one run each; Bock posted one run, and Sayler had one hit.

Johnson earned the pitching win for Milbank. Quade provided relief.

Milbank hosted the Arnold Larsen Legion tournament at Legion Field Friday through Sunday, June 2-4, and fell in the championship tilt to Volga, 7-2.

Milbank opened the tournament with a 9-1 victory over Tea, and went on to defeated Redfield 11-3 in the semi-finals.
