The Milbank VFW Junior Teener baseball team split contests with Sisseton Monday, June 19, in doubleheader action on the road.
In the opening game, Milbank rolled to a 21-3 victory. Milbank took the early lead in the first inning when Micah Dietmeier drove in one run on a single. The locals added three more runs in the second, one in the third and five in the fifth to take a commanding 10-1 advantage.

Milbank then tallied 11 runs in the fifth inning. The Junior Teeners scored on a double by Karson Weber, walks by Kaden Krause, Kellen Hoeke and Weber, singles by Mike Karges and Isaac Schulte, and a Sisseton error.

Weber batted in five runs in addition to his three hits and three runs to lead the Milbank offense. Schulte tallied three hits, two runs and two RBIs, and Karges added three hits, two runs and two RBIs. Dietmeier had two hits, one run and two RBIs while Krause scored three runs and had four walks and an RBI to his credit.

Rounding out the totals for Milbank were Matt Christianson, one run; Hoeke, one hit, one RBI and two walks; Stevie Ash, two runs; Evan Erickson, two runs and one RBI; Bennett Schwenn, three runs and one RBI, and Cole Swenson, two runs, one hit, two RBIs and a walk.

Dietmeier earned the pitching win for Milbank. He threw five innings giving up three runs, two hits and struck out 12 batters.
The tides turned during the second game of the night. Milbank suffered a 7-3 loss.

Sisseton led 2-1 after the opening inning. The opponent widened the gap to 4-2 after three innings and closed out the win with three runs in the fourth.

Milbank scored its three runs on five hits. Dietmeier, Karges, Ash, Swenson and Erickson belted out one run apiece in the contest.
Karges started on the mound for Milbank. He struck out five batters and gave up four runs, four hits and three walks. Schulte finished the game. He sat down four hitters while allowing three runs, one hit and four walks.
