The first event in the Lake Farley Summer Event Series was rated a success according to Milbank Area Chamber of Commerce Events Director Laura Kelly.
“It was tough with the wind and cold temperatures, but we are very grateful for all those who attended and took part in our first big event of the summer” stated Kelly.
The day started with a 30-entry parade that led from the Courthouse to Lake Farley. A spectacular water ski show featuring the Aberdeen Aqua Addicts wowed a full crowd along the beach of Lake Farley.
The day ended with David Gloe and his team the Hilltop Smoke Shack being crowned the Grand Champion of Q-Fest. Gloe earned the top spot with his ribs. Also in the ribs category, second place went to Steve Thomas’ team, Fernando’s Rib Company; third place was awarded to Alex Adolph of Smokin A’s.
Gloe also won first prize with his brisket. Thomas took second place, and Cubby Grabow with his team, Cub BQ, finished third. In the chicken category, Grabow earned first place; Gloe finished second; and Thomas, third.
