An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Milbank High School lunchroom. According to Grant County Bloodmobile Coordinator Margaret Skoog, “Summer typically brings a shortage in the blood supply.”

Appointments are necessary. Call Skoog at 605-880-0435. Appointments can also be made online at www.redcross-blood.org by entering “Milbank Community.”

To save time the day of the drive, donors are encouraged to go to the Red Cross website and register through Rapid Pass. “You can answer all the pre-donation questions there, print it out, and bring it with you to the bloodmobile,” explained Skoog. “However, that can only be done the day of the drive.” Rapid Pass can also be accessed using the app.

Donors must present a Red Cross Bloodmobile card or a government issued photo ID. To be eligible, donors must be in good health, 17 years of age or older, and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors are asked to use the northeast door of the high school building.

The American Lutheran Church is providing support for the drive under the direction of Carol Kirchberg. She will be assisted by Sandy Kathman and Brenda Maass. For questions, contact Skoog at 605-880-0435.
